DM School win Sahodaya Complex volleyball trophy

D M School beat Gouri Shankar Residential School in the final 25-19, 25-23 to lift the trophy in the Sahadoya Complex Inter-school Volleyball Tournament at Unit-1 High School Ground here today.

Earlier in the semifinals, DM School defeated SAI International School 25-22, 25-17, while Gouri Shankar Residential School Unit-8 DAV Public School 25-22, 26-24. Hockey Olympian Dilip Tirkey handed over the trophy at the closing function. Host Mother’s Public School principal Polly Pattnaik and Orissa Cricket Association vice-president Naba Ranjan Pattnaik were present on the occasion.

Altogether 12 schools of Bhubaneswar, including last year’s champions Unit-9 Government High School and Pokhariput DAV School took part in the two-day tournament. Other participating teams included St Xavier’s School, Guidance Public School, BJEM School, Prabhujee English Medium School, Chandrasekharput DAV School and Delhi Public School.

DM School bagged a double by winning another tournament, which was conducted simultaneously among teachers of five school teams. In the final, DM School got the better of Mother’s Public School 25-11, 25-12.
